Lancot Trophies - 29th June
As you'll have seen from the fixture card, the Lancot Trophies is on
Sunday 29th June. Once again Roger has things well organised but
we still need a lot of help on the day to make this event the
success it has been the last two years.
Please can you let Roger know when you can help - it doesn't have
to be all day but a few hours in either the morning or afternoon will go
a long way to helping. Please support the Club on this important
day.
Thanks
Reg Morgan
Reg Morgan, The Club President sadly passed away last Thursday (15th
May).

Reg had been a member of the Club for over 40 years and during this time
he undertook a large number of roles that made a significant
contribution to the Club.
As a player he was a dependable off-spinner who played for the Club
until the mid 1980's but his real contribution was as Secretary and then
Chairman until 1987. One the last decisions of his period of
Chairmanship was the vote to set up a sub-committee to actively search
for an alternative ground which started the process of the move to
Totternhoe. In addition he was Bar Secretary at Bull Pond Lane at a time
when volunteers ran the bar and also was instrumental in organising the
early tours to South Wales in the 1970's.
Older
members may also remember Reg’s midweek team nicknamed “Morgan’s
Marauders” where a Club team played as the Wild Barfield works team
where Reg worked.
Reg always took great pride in being Club President particularly
enjoying Presidents Day and welcoming old members and friends back to
the club and was always supportive as the Club moved forward. Reg was
also a Trustee and an Honorary member of the Club.
Over the weekend, the
Club flag was flown at half mast, the players observed a minutes silence
and wore black armbands as a mark of respect.
The Funeral will be at
3.00pm
Tuesday 27th May at
All Saints , Wilstead , just off the A6 , South of Bedford

Cricket Force 2008

Sat 5th April 2008
A very
heartfelt thanks to all the following
people who answered the call and took part in the "Cricket Force 2008" event:
Andy Boocock ,
Martin Cutler, Paul Gilbert,
Ian Keogh,
Robbie Keogh, Andy Kilduff
Richard Kilduff, The Little Duffs, Ted McDougal,
Steve Rennison,
Rob Simpkins
Dave Skinner, Michael Skinner,
Adam Stearn
"We few, we happy few, we band of
brothers" rolled our sleeves up and got stuck in to help the Clubhouse
be ready for the new cricket season. We carried out a very, very deep
clean of the Kitchen, cleaned the Bar-B-Ques, lifted and cleared beneath
the paving stones on the balcony, cleared out the gutters, the showers,
the net area, the cloakroom and store cupboard, painted the field gate, and moved the storage
garage, plus some other things I can't bring to mind just now.
Poor weather and a much smaller
turnout than past years prevented some other things from getting done.
These things still need doing and will have to be scheduled in during the early
season, most likely on a rota basis. So if you missed out, don't worry
your chance is coming.
We hope that
the rest of you appreciate the fabulous effort and commitment shown by
these people and that you buy us all a beer next time we meet (I'll
accept Michael's on his behalf).

Second place went to Dave Skinner
with 32 points, just ahead of a large number of players who scored
between 28 and 31 points .
Nearest the Pin was won by Ian
Keogh, Longest Drive was Rob Simpkins.
The Junior's competition was won
by Robbie Keogh who also picked up the longest drive in the Juniors.
Fathers and Sons was won by....
the Keoghs by just 1 point.
Best team score was from Messers
Farrow, Gilbert, and Skinner with 93 points (three ball).
Fazza's caddy was unhappy that he had selected the wrong club again.

DTCC Gets
Top Marks Again
The 2007
Herts Cricket League Facility Marks show Dunstable at the top once again
for the 4th year running.
The main pitch
scored highly with the 1st and 2nd XI coming home with top marks in
their Divisions at 8.20 and 8.47 respectively. The second XI score at
8.47 was the highest in any Division.
The Nursery Ground
also scored well for the 3rd & 4th XI at 7.49 and 8.00 respectively,
but didn't quite top the marks in both Divisions. We need to work on the
Nursery Scorebox / scoring facilities for next season.
A few games
where we could do with home fixtures next season would be for the 3rd's
vs Hexton (scored just 3.56), and 4ths vs Rickmansworth III (scored just
3.44).

Twenty 20
Cricket - 20 June
On Wednesday 20th June the Club is
playing host to a Twenty 20 match between Bedfordshire and Middlesex.
The match starts at 5.30pm, with gates open from 4pm.
The
teams will play in coloured clothing with a white ball.

This is a really great opportunity for the Club and we need to make the
most of it. We need your help to make it all happen on the day; these
things don't happen by themselves, but with your help we can
spread the load.
All club members are therefore asked to make themselves
available please, either to assist before hand with preparations or for
a couple of hours on the day, or clearing up next day. There's lots to
set up before hand. On the day we need stewards, gate managers, servers
in beer tent, programme sellers, security stewards - a whole raft
of things.
We'd all love to just watch but unless these things are done,
there won't be anything to watch.
Please see Andy Watts, Adam Stearn, Dave Skinner, Ted McDougall, Steve
Rennison, Ian Keogh to find out what you can do to make this day a
really good one for the club.

club can do for you; ask what you can do for your club"

Dunstable's Mayor Praises DTCC
Following the very successful Colts
Presentation Evening, the Mayor of Dunstable
Mrs Cynthia Gresham, has written to the Chairman in praise of the Club:
"Andy Boocock and his team managers and
coaches are to be congratulated on the hard work, energy, and enthusiasm
that they put into running the Colts teams. It is so encouraging to see so
many young members of the Colts enjoying the sport and gaining so much from
participating in a team game.
Thank you for making me so welcome and may
I wish Dunstable Town Cricket Club continued success - a Club that is as
great asset and credit to our Town."
Hear hear...
DOUBLE TOP CHAMPIONS !!
Sat 2 Sept
2006- 1st XI beat Old
Albanians to clinch the Herts Saracens Div 2 Champions slot.
Sunday 27th August
2006- 1st XI secure the Sunday
Beds Premier League title with a tied match against Luton Town
& Indians.
Lancot Trophies
2006 - Thank you from the Chairman
" On behalf of the Club I want to thank everyone
who gave their time and effort to make The Lancot Trophies such a success.
As a club member and representative I felt really proud of what the Club
achieved and I hope all of you felt the same.
Obviously Roger deserves
particular congratulations for his vision, enthusiasm and sheer hard work
without which the day would never have happened and I would also like to
individually thank both Ross Tommey and Adam Stearn who I know have put a huge amount of
time to make the day a success.
But the real success story was that so many
club members ( and some parents who aren't members ) worked so hard whether
it was taking money on the gate, being league managers, parking, selling
raffle tickets, scoring, umpiring, cooking, counting money, preparing 4 new
strips and boundaries, sorting out the bar and kitchen, putting up notices
,clearing up ,setting up the loudspeaker system and all the many other jobs.
Thank you all so much.
I thought the Club would like to see what
others have been saying : -
Redbourn U.10 manager Jeff Chapman said " I
had the privilege of managing Redbourn under 10's at the Lancot Festival. It
was a fantastic day which all our boys thoroughly enjoyed . A big thank you
to Roger and DTCC for organising such a marvellous event "
Hertford's Rob Carter wrote " Please accept a
big thank you from Hertford CC …. Everyone had an excellent day and it was
extremely well run. The players who gave up their cricket for the boys did
Dunstable Town proud "
Steve Cantellow wrote " Superbly organised ….
Great day. I have been to many youth football tournaments but none have come
close to what I witnessed on Sunday. Congratulations to all involved -- a
real credit to DTCC "
